"Come Back," 17 x 26 inches
Born in South America to Chinese parents, Chong is especially interested in the process of cultural assimilation and the development of individual identity.
Her medium is encaustic on wood, an ancient practice that involves wax, oil and pigments fused together. Her art is story telling using a mix of cultural types in the framework of one piece. The landscape effects a soft focus blending of colors to create atmosphere. She embeds bead, or components of metal and or plastic to play with the relief of the surface, while the figures are illustrated with line and stand to read clearly.
