Mare McClellan refers to her paintings as compositions "coming from a place somewhere between patch working a quilt and memories of early reveries in childhood crayon drawing experience." A non-objective rhythm of form and color are grounded in the perception of landscape in the paintings. Her titles reflect a sensibility to find calm, balance and sensitivity. Mare McClellan is a sculptor as well and creates knitted wire sculptural objects. A recent exhibit at the diane birdsall gallery, Ink- Wire- Clay, 2013, featured her beautiful ingenious structures.
